Connect a DNS provider ​

Connecting a DNS provider lets you manage DNS records directly in FlashPanel and lets FlashPanel create records automatically in some cases.

FlashPanel currently supports Cloudflare.

Cloudflare ​

This section shows you how to create a Cloudflare API Token with the following permissions:

  • Zone: Read
  • DNS: Edit
  • SSL and Certificates: Edit

API Tokens are a secure way to grant limited access to specific parts of your Cloudflare account.

Step 1: Log in to Cloudflare ​

  1. Open your web browser and go to https://dash.cloudflare.com/.
  2. Log in with your Cloudflare account.

Step 2: Open the API Tokens page ​

  1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select My Profile from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click API Tokens.

Step 3: Create a new API Token ​

  1. On the API Tokens page, click the Create Token button.
  2. Under Custom token, click Get started.

Step 4: Configure the API Token permissions ​

  1. Name the token

    • Enter a meaningful name in the Token name field, such as:
      "API Token for FlashPanel".

  2. Add permissions in the Permissions section (click + Add more to add a row):

    • Zone:
      • Column 1: Zone
      • Column 2: Zone
      • Column 3: Read
    • DNS:
      • Column 1: Zone
      • Column 2: DNS
      • Column 3: Edit
    • SSL and Certificates:
      • Column 1: Zone
      • Column 2: SSL and Certificates
      • Column 3: Edit

  3. Limit the domains (optional)

    • In Zone Resources, if you want the token to apply only to specific domains, select Specific zone and choose the domains. Otherwise, leave it as All zones.

Step 5: Review and create the API Token ​

  1. Click Continue to summary.
  2. Review the permissions and domains.
  3. Click Create Token.

Step 6: Save the API Token ​

  1. Once the token is created, Cloudflare displays your API Token.

  2. Copy the token and store it securely.

    Important: This is the only time you can view the token. If you lose it, you will need to create a new one.

Step 7: Add the API Token to FlashPanel ​

  1. Open the DNS Management page in FlashPanel.
  2. Click the Add DNS button.
  3. In Choose DNS Manager, select Cloudflare.
  4. Enter a note in the API Key Memo field (for example, "Cloudflare DNS management").
  5. Paste the API Token from the previous step into the API Key field.
  6. Click Add DNS to save.

Once saved, you can manage DNS and related SSL certificates for these domains directly in FlashPanel.

Manage DNS ​

After you add the API Key, the system automatically retrieves all the domains that the key is allowed to manage. The domains appear in the Domain column of the DNS list table.

  1. Click the domain you want to manage to open its DNS records.
  2. Click Add Record to create a new DNS record, or use the edit/delete buttons on each row to update or delete a record.
  3. If you just added a new domain at your DNS provider, click the reload icon (Update API Token information) to fetch the latest domain list.

Maybe you don't know? ​

When you create a new site whose domain is in the list of domains managed in FlashPanel, the system automatically creates a DNS record of type A (or AAAA for IPv6 servers) pointing to the server that hosts the site.
