Roundcube Webmail
Roundcube is an open source webmail application for reading and sending email in the browser, with an address book, folder management, message search and a plugin system. FlashPanel installs Roundcube as a website and connects it to the mail server you specify.
Requirements
- The server must be on a paid plan. The Roundcube item shows a lock icon if the server has not been upgraded.
- The server has PHP installed.
- A database for Roundcube's data: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL (installed from the Apps page) or SQLite (no installation needed).
- A mail server that supports IMAP and SMTP. If you use the FlashPanel Mail Server on the same server, the connection details are pre-filled.
- A new website dedicated to Roundcube (for example
mail.domain.com). The website's existing source code will be overwritten.
Installation
- Create a new website, then click the website name in the list to open its management page.
- Click the Install Source Code menu, then click the Roundcube icon.
- Check or enter the mail server details:
- IMAP Host: for example
ssl://mail.domain.com:993ortls://mail.domain.com:143. - SMTP Host: for example
ssl://mail.domain.com:465ortls://mail.domain.com:587.
- IMAP Host: for example
- Select the Database. The list only shows databases installed on the server, plus SQLite.
- Click Install Roundcube Webmail.
FlashPanel downloads the latest stable Roundcube release, creates a database (unless you use SQLite) and configures the mail connection. When it finishes, open the website and log in with your email address and password.
TIP
Install SSL on the website so email passwords are encrypted when you log in.
Usage
Auto login from Mail Server
If the server has both Mail Server and a Roundcube website, the Mail Server page shows an Auto Login button on each email account that opens Roundcube without entering a password. See Mail.
Enable the email filter
The email filter lets you create rules that handle incoming mail automatically: move to a folder, flag, forward or delete.
- Click the website's Home menu.
- In the Action table at the top of the page, click the
enable-email-filterbutton (note Enable Email Filter). - When it finishes, open Roundcube and create filter rules in Roundcube's settings.
WARNING
The email filter only works with the FlashPanel Mail Server installed on the same server. Enabling it restarts the Mail Server and opens port 4190 in the firewall.
Install the calendar plugin
The calendar plugin adds a calendar to Roundcube: events, recurring events, email invitations and multiple views (day, week, month).
- Click the website's Home menu.
- In the Action table, click the
calendar-pluginbutton (note Install calendar plugin). - When it finishes, open Roundcube to use the calendar and adjust it in Roundcube's settings.
Uninstall
- Click the website's Home menu.
- In the Danger Zone group, click Remove Code.
- Check Delete Database and Delete Database User if you also want to delete Roundcube's data (contacts, user settings).
- Check Restore default page? to delete the Roundcube files and return the website to the default page.
- Check Yes, Do it!, then click Remove Code.
Email stays on the mail server; removing Roundcube does not delete any mailbox.
Notes
- The website's web directory is set to
/public_htmlwhen Roundcube is installed. - If you cannot log in, check the IMAP Host/SMTP Host and the mail server's SSL certificate.
